I’m still here. I deleted the posts I made back at the beginning of January 2020 because they were basically pointless. A lot has changed since then, so I will try to do a quick recap. No promises on constant updates here, but I do tweet and post to Instagram a lot.
This may have been mentioned when I had this website under the old name/link, but I was in the hospital in November 2019 because of an infection on my left outer thigh. I was in the hospital about a week on IV antibiotics, then released. Well, the infection popped up again in February of 2020 and then again in March. Both times I was in the hospital for about a week, but in March I went to a nursing facility for about 3 weeks after being discharged from the hospital to continue getting treatment on my thigh. I don’t know if it was because Covid was just starting to amp up or what, but not much really got done. I got home on March 31st and since then have quarantined myself in the house. I have left my house only twice. Once back in October of last year to get a flu shot (and it was a drive-thru set up which was awesome and I hope they do it again this year) and then back in May my nurse thought I had another infection and wanted me to go to the ER, so I went just as a precaution because it was a holiday weekend and yeah it was nothing. The bloodwork came back that everything was fine.
Because I was in the hospital/nursing facility for a month last year the home health agency I was with did not take me back, so I was set up with a new one. Then in May of this year, they dropped me because they said my insurance cut me off, but I never received a letter from them telling me this so something fishy went on there. So I got set up with another home health agency and right around the same time I switched doctor offices and now have a nurse practitioner as my primary. I still at this point had no idea what was going on with my legs. Past biopsies had only come back as “skin irritations”, which, wow, so informative. 🙄 So my new NP did another biopsy and this time it came back as Psoriasis and also Verrucous Keratosis, SO FUN! Both have little to no treatment options to get rid of it permanently. The infected portions of my legs don’t hurt, so I’m not desperate for surgical treatment or to start a new oral medication, but my nurse started a treatment of putting some lotions on my legs along with a steroid cream and that has helped reduce certain areas. They are not gone completely, but they did seem to have shrunk a bit.
Other than that my life is pretty much the same. I will likely post about what else I’ve been up to, but in the meantime, if anyone has any questions about anything, ask away.
